The
city's Bureau of Sanitation has tried to prepare the public for the
coming change, handing out more than 400,000 multi-colored reusable bags
and holding a series of events leading up to the Jan.Targa director

has set up a special web page, LACITYBAG.Organize also helps guide

to provide information on the ban. It also plans to hand out another
50,000 reusable bags leading up to the start of the program.Kendra
Doyel, spokeswoman for the Ralphs grocery chain, said the supermarkets
have been reminding customers of the change with signs at their stores
and parking lots."We will do reusable bag giveaways around the launch of
the ban and we will be reminding customers to bring bags on their next
shopping trip," she said.Doyel said a similar strategy has been used in
other areas with bag bans and found to be successful in making customers
aware of the change.The survey found that in Brazil, India and
Singapore that number jumps up significantly,Camouflage Suits as
more than two-thirds of respondents in those countries use video
conferencing at least once a week.The model used by Los Angeles and a
number of other cities was worked out by the California Grocers
Association. Supermarkets that have already made the change in other
cities have found that most customers tend to bring in reusable bags,
rather than pay the 10 cents for paper, according to association
spokesman Dave Heylen.
"The
acceptance rate of this model has been extremely high," Heylen said.
"What we are seeing is that people are bringing in reusable bags and not
asking for paper bags. The number of paper bags being sold is much less
than we had anticipated."He added that the association is also working
to develop a statewide model to avoid having different regulations in
different jurisdictions.
