A Leland-based residential Mezzanine Floor Manufacturers that dates back to the early 1900s – has closed, according to a voice recording Monday. "Regrettably, our lender, Sun Trust Bank, has in effect closed our operations,"the message said. "The Dean family is working to establish a new entity, Dean Wood International. We should be able to contact you about your interest.”
Calls left to Dean Woods International were not returned Monday afternoon. In August 2008, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to help restructure the firm’s debt and pay creditors. At the time of the filing, Dean Hardwoods owed numerous creditors, including more than $1.4 million to SunTrust Bank.It is thought laminate flooring appeals to householders looking to improve their home because it is less costly than real wood, and is a lot easier to clean than carpets. Some also believe it is more hygienic because dust and animal hairs from pets do not tend to stick to them.
Progression in printing technology and design has meant that laminate floors can now look more authentic, providing a multitude of colours and designs for householders to choose from. The sector will effectively hit 1.92 billion square metres in five years'time, according to a Global Industry Analysts Inc report. The research was designed to analyse current market trends within the global community.
