Italian ceramic floor tile manufacturer Ceramica Del Conca announced Wednesday a plan to build the company's first U.S. facility in Loudon County.The announcement, made jointly with the Loudon County Economic Development Agency, says the 320,000-square-foot facility will be located on a 30-acre site at the Sugarlimb Industrial Park in Loudon.Manufacturing, research, sales and administration functions will all be run from the facility.
Del Conca says up to 178 workers will be employed in Loudon with average hourly wages of $17, plus benefits."We're very excited and honored they chose Loudon," said Loudon County Economic Development Agency Assistant Director Kathy Knight. Knight says they have been working with the company for four years. Tennessee was one of five states being considered for the facility.
A majority of the managerial, technical, engineering, administrative, production and distribution positions will be filled before the end of 2013."Their plans are to be in operation by December 2013," said Knight, "Start production in January 2014. We hope to start moving dirt in February or March of 2013."The first phase of the project will bring in 100 jobs with a projected investment of $70 million.
