Mannington Mills Monday marked a new acquisition and celebrated the potential an international marketplace can bring for its products.As Mannington employees and stockholders of the family-owned flooring manufacturer looked on, the Union Jack was raised over corporate headquarters, flying alongside the American flag and Mannington's own banner.The ceremony was held in recognition of Mannington's purchase of United Kingdom-based Amtico International, a manufacturer of high-quality luxury vinyl flooring products earlier this spring.“We are truly an international company,” Mannington Chairman of the Board Keith Campbell told those gathered for the brief ceremony.
The flag-raising took place during Mannington's annual stockholders' meeting here.Keith Campbell was joined by his mother, Mrs. John B. “Johnny” Campbell, Mannington Mills President and CEO Russell Grizzle and Amtico International CEO Jonathan Duck in raising the British flag.Mohawk Industries doubles earnings in first-quarter report.In March, Mannington Mills announced the purchase of Amtico International a maker of luxury vinyl tile based in Coventry, England.The acquisition of Amtico will allow Mannington to manufacture luxury vinyl tile in the U.S.
It will also open up opportunities for Mannington to sell its products in markets were Amtico already has an established presence including throughout Europe and in the future in emerging markets in South America and along the Pacific Rim, Campbell said at the time of the sale.Mannington Mills one of the largest and oldest flooring manufacturers in the United States. It makes and markets residential and commercial resilient, laminate, hardwood and porcelain tile floors, as well as commercial carpet and rubber.
