Solid wood furnishings distinguish PTS

Once known for selling only pool tables, PTS Furniture has evolved over 32 years into a premier furniture store with several full lines of furnishings, the majority made out of solid wood. The Thousand Oaks store is a family-run business. Joe and Pat Paulucci, Agoura Hills residents, opened a small shop called the Pool Table Store in 1980 on Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

Joe Paulucci said he chose to focus on pool table sales because a family friend manufactured the game tables."I thought it would be fun to have a store and sell pool tables," Paulucci said.By 1984, the Pool Table Store had grown out of its small space, so the Pauluccis moved from the 6,000-square-foot shop to an 18,000-square-foot space in the Janss Marketplace, at which time they broadened their line of furniture beyond gaming.

Today, PTS Furniture has a grand 35,000-square-foot showroom overlooking the 101 Freeway."What makes us truly unusual is we have more solid wood furniture percentage-wise (than other furniture stores)," Paulucci said. "Ninety percent of our furniture is solid wood, and it's made in the U.S., Canada and Norway. . . . Most furniture today is imported from Asia."Cost-conscious customers can find a small selection of moderately priced furniture in a line from China at the store.
